Harry Jenkins has been named Senior Vice President of Digital for GateHouse Media and will lead the company’s efforts to strengthen and grow across all digital platforms.
“Harry provided the most relevant, thought-provoking ideas and insights of any candidate,” GateHouse President Kirk Davis said in a statement. “He also demonstrated a collaborative approach to getting things done that made me extremely confident he would be very effective.”
Jenkins worked three years with The Walt Disney Company
as vice president of Software Production at Disney Interactive, where he created entertainment and educational products with artists and developers from around the world. He then worked with Scripps Networks
for six years as vice president of Emerging Media & New Ventures. Jenkins was responsible for venture planning and product development for online video, mobile applications, new media distribution with major television and online partners, and content, commerce and community for numerous brand websites. One of his projects at Scripps won an Emmy for the advancement of video on the Internet.
Jenkins most recently worked with DIRECTV
developing its TV Everywhere initiative, which involved creating rich user experiences, new advertising services, publishing systems, and social and mobile products. He also has worked for Time-Warner/Atari, Philips, Silicon Graphics and was a founder of Silicon Gaming, an innovator of next-generation casino games utilizing high-performance multimedia and networking technologies.
Jenkins earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and a master’s in engineering from Stanford University.
