Melinda Gipson

Director of Internet Business Development

Melinda Gipson joined GateHouse Media as our Director of Internet Business Development in October of 2006. Previously she worked for the Newspaper Association of America (NAA). At the NAA, Ms. Gipson managed the Digital Media Federation, founded the Digital Edge Web site and created the newspaper industry’s authoritative audience tracking database, NADBase. In 1999 Ms. Gipson was honored as a NAA “New Media Pioneer”.

In 2000, Ms. Gipson taught the inaugural MBA class for American University’s Kogod School of Business in “Advertising and Marketing on the Internet,” while earning her own executive MBA.

Before joining NAA, she enjoyed an award-winning career in multimedia, business-to-business journalism, founding Paul Kagan’s Baseline Washington Bureau, Multimedia Daily, and a half dozen other niche industry publications.

In 1981, fresh out of Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism (MSJ), she founded the Washington Bureau of Religious News Service.

She earned her undergraduate BA was from Wheaton College in Illinois. Her hometown is Akron, Ohio. Her two sons live in Brooklyn and Leesburg, VA, and she now resides in Pittsford, NY.
