GateHouse Media is seeking a Vice President of Sales and Marketing, to join our corporate management team. This key senior leadership role is a critical part of our future success as we grow into a true multimedia business, presenting an expanding line of new products to our advertisers and helping them reach new customers.

If you have demonstrated strong leadership experience in interactive multimedia sales with a background in traditional media this could be a highly rewarding opportunity where you can thrive by helping to shape the future of our young and exciting company. This position will be responsible for integrating more than 1200 traditional sales reps in our newspaper businesses with our online sales experts around the country to build a true multimedia sales force that can drive top line revenues across all platforms and publications.

This position, working closely with regional Vice Presidents and broader key department directors who will be direct reports, will evaluate our current sales operation functions and then craft a new multimedia sales strategy for the company. This work will include implementing compensation plans that encourage revenue growth across all of our product lines. You will be involved with goal setting, hiring key sales directors, establishing an ongoing training regimen, implementing sales monitoring tools and systems to track progress of sales initiatives and reporting on sales performance. On occasion this person may help regional sales Vice Presidents with key strategic relationships.

This position will report to the President & COO and the position will be located in either Rochester, NY or in our Greater Boston area office. This position will have visibility to the CEO and CFO and on occasion could be asked to make presentations to shareholders, investors and our Board of Directors.

Pay is negotiable, based on experience. The compensation structure will include a base salary with additional bonuses based on goals set on driving the top line performance of the company.

Qualifications

  • Extensive online media sales experience is a prerequisite.
  • Bachelors degree required, advanced degree preferred
  • Management experience required, with a minimum of 3 years in a corporate management role
  • Proven leadership ability and previous client relationship experience required
  • Thorough knowledge of all interactive media products and pricing models
  • In depth understanding of media planning, negotiation, implementation and performance analysis
  • Persuasive written and compelling oral presentation skills are a must.
  • Ability to think strategically but also execute day-to-day objectives
