Circulation / Advertising IT Analyst

GateHouse Media, Inc. is seeking a Circulation / Advertising IT Analyst

GateHouse Media is looking for a Circulation / Advertising Systems Analyst to support the company’s centralized solution for Circulation and Advertising. Strong candidates will be experienced with Advertising and Circulation applications systems within a newspaper environment. Preferred candidates will have experience with implementations of these systems.

The individual in this position may be required to travel to provide application support for implementations in remote sites. Travel could be up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Provide end-user support on core Circulation and Advertising business applications. Requires a deep understanding of the applications as well as the business processes surrounding the applications.
• Work diligently to solve application issues, involving the vendor when appropriate.
• Understand and support system interfaces.
• Help to establish business processes and ensure optimal implementation and utilization of the systems. Continually looks for improvement opportunities and leads implementation projects or improvement efforts as changes are identified.
• Works with the business teams to identify reporting needs and develop/code necessary reports. Strong ability to identify business needs and implement technical solutions.
• Assist with creation and maintenance of application documentation and end-user documentation for business applications.
• Assist in training end users.
• Maintain users in the system (Adds, changes, deletions). This will require understanding of the security model and keeping Sarbanes Oxley requirements in mind as we set up new users.

Education

• BA/BS in Business Administration, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.

Work Experience / Skills Required

• Requires 3+ years of work experience with at least 2 years of related applications experience.
• General knowledge of the newspaper industry
• Strong Advertising and Circulation skills. DTI experience helpful.
• Desire to learn new skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Progress (or similar database).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Maintains effective working relationships and exhibits effective interpersonal skills and cooperative attitude.
