Transportation & Logistics Manager

GateHouse Media, Inc. is seeking a Transportation & Logistics Manager

This position is responsible for managing distribution staff and daily operations to ensure timely and cost efficient transportation and delivery of all outgoing shipments. A successful candidate will be able to establish strong relationships with carriers committed to customer satisfaction. This position also plans and assures adequate fleet equipment use and maintenance, is responsible for scheduling, routing, and budget administration and uses analytical methods to create solutions and recommendations, generally enhancing our logistics processes. Additional responsibilities include working to streamline the operation, ensure continual logistics improvements, evaluate the company's future needs, and provide departmental flexibility and the ability to lead change.

Experience should exceed 5 years in the field of logistics and/or transportation management. Ability to track multiple projects, meet critical daily deadlines and juggle priorities, effectively lead a team and develop associates, strong sense of urgency and problem solving abilities, excellent time management and follow-up skills, in-depth understanding of carrier operations, excellent computer skills including Excel and some mechanical knowledge. Effective communications skills, including writing, and positive cooperative attitude a must.
