GateHouse Media, Inc. is seeking an Online Support Specialist

Job Description

The Online Support Specialist will be responsible for the timely and efficient completion/implementation of numerous tasks essential to supporting digital content delivery across multiple brands and platforms for GateHouse Media Inc.

The person in this position will have responsibility for supporting digital operations within GateHouse Media and report to the Operations Manager:

  • Content Management System operations and support;
  • Content feeds, including scripting, maintenance and quality assurance;
  • Implementing and supporting content delivery on the Web, through E-mail, SMS, video and other content delivery systems as developed.
  • Serving as first-call support from properties on CMS and other vendor issues.
  • Implementation and supporting site designs and development;

The successful candidate should possess:

  • BS in computer science preferred;
  • Minimum two years operational experience in Web support, design, and/or development;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to handle numerous tasks simultaneously under time constraints;
  • Ability to work independently, make sound business decisions and problem solve according to daily business developments and in consideration of client and department goals.
  • Broad skill set to include but not limited to PhotoShop, JavaScript, Python, AJAX, HTML, PHP, XHTML and XML;
  • Strong knowledge of Internet protocols such as HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, E-mail, DNS, TCP/IP, etc.;
  • Newspaper experience preferred;
