GateHouse Media recently named Tom Clifford as vice president of its Center for News & Design in Austin, Texas.
Clifford, who most recently served as the executive editor of the Montgomery Advertiser, will lead the center’s general operations.
“Through a several-month search process, Tom emerged as the clear leader because of his strong journalistic credentials, newsroom management style and exposure to design centers,” said David Arkin, GateHouse Media’s senior vice president of content and product development. “He will be an enormous asset, driving the Center’s goals of creating best-in-class news products and operational efficiencies.”

Bill Church, executive editor of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune and southeast regional editor of GateHouse Media, was recently selected as one of eight 2016 Knight Visiting Nieman Fellows to spend time at Harvard University working on projects designed to advance the field of journalism.
Church’s project will explore organizational behavior in community-size newsrooms and explore new models for adaptability and innovation. A major component will be trying to understand the mindset of optimistic, digital natives and start-ups in an attempt build a model newsroom structure that is more horizontally integrated and fluid in adapting to business climate changes.
His research will include four weeks on-site at Harvard and MIT, spending time in the Nieman Lab and with Harvard’s organizational behavior and innovation faculty.
The fellowship program was established in 2012 to invite individuals with promising journalism research proposals to take advantage of the resources at Harvard University and the Nieman Foundation.

Reinebach is an experienced sales, marketing and technology executive with 20 years of success in the B2B media and information space. Before launching Responsive Partners, a digital consultancy specializing in B2B turnarounds, Reinebach was EVP and Managing Director at SourceMedia where he ran the company’s professional services brands and its paid subscriptions business. SourceMedia is a diversified B2B media company serving senior professionals in the financial, technology, and healthcare sectors. During his nine years there, Reinebach also ran technology, circulation marketing and the custom solutions group.
Prior to SourceMedia, Reinebach was a Vice President at Thomson Financial, where he was publisher of their private equity brands, and ran the research and data group at Venture Economics. A frequent blogger and trained journalist, Reinebach started his B2B media career as a reporter for Investment Dealers’ Digest. Reinebach is a graduate of Rutgers University.
