Canton Repository named official paper of Pro Football Hall of Fame

The Repository in Canton, Ohio, was recently named the official newspaper of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

As a part of the three-year partnership, all Hall of Fame guests will receive a daily edition of the Repository, which will be wrapped in a specially created section that will share the latest information about the Hall’s news and events and features about the game.

Readers of the newspaper and the website will receive specially created Hall of Fame content, including a daily feature on the paper’s front page. Cantonrep.com will also host a daily video series, which will feature the latest Hall of Fame news.

“We are incredibly proud to partner with an organization of excellence like the Hall, and we look forward to working together during this exciting time for the Hall and our region,” said Jim Porter, the Repository’s publisher.

The Daily Telegram recognized by Michigan Associated Press

Congratulations to The Daily Telegram team in Adrian, Michigan, on its recent recognition at the Michigan Associated Press Media Editors annual newspaper competition.

The paper was awarded second in the Best Digital Presence category for Division II. The judges noted that the Telegram was successful in promoting a significant amount of content without being overwhelming to followers.

Norwich Bulletin recognized by Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists

Congratulations to The Bulletin team in Norwich, Connecticut, on its recent wins at the 2015 Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists Awards.

Sarasota Herald-Tribune wins top honors at 2016 APME Innovation in Journalism Awards

Congratulations to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, which recently received a number of awards at the 2016 Associated Press Media Editors Innovation in Journalism Awards for its investigative piece “Insane. Invisible. In danger.

The investigation into the poor conditions of mental health facilities in Florida, written in partnership with the Tampa Bay Times, won the Public Service Award, the APME Foundation Sweepstakes Award as the best overall public service work and the Al Neuharth Award for Innovation in Investigative Reporting.

The Herald-Tribune also won the Community Engagement Award, the International Perspective Award and was named as one of three finalists for the Innovator of the Year award, the winner of which will be named in September.

GateHouse Media participates in United Way’s Day of Caring

GateHouse Media would like to recognize the finance team in Pittsford, New York, for their participation in the United Way of Greater Rochester’s Day of Caring community event on May 12.

The team, led by Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer Keri Curtis, raked leaves, moved dead trees and picked up fallen branches at Mt. Hope Cemetery, which is one of the United State’s first municipal cemeteries, founded in 1818. A registered historic landmark, the 196-acre area houses about 350,000 graves, including those of Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass.

Sales Manager — Gadsden, Alabama

The primary responsibility of the Sales Manager is to increase print and digital advertising revenues by actively engaging with MMSEs in field calls, client visits and overall revenue driving activities. This position directly affects and is responsible for achieving or exceeding print and digital revenue in the market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consistently meets/exceeds all print and digital revenue targets
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge and understanding of all GateHouse Media sales and marketing assets, including all newspaper products, digital products and digital marketing services (Propel) and able to transfer the knowledge to direct reports
  • Follows GateHouse prescribed best practices on Pipeline Management and Gap Analysis, reviews all required sales process activities and provides direction and feedback to increase closing ratios
  • Reviews market activities to develop new business by understanding customer needs and selling products and services that provide value to the customer
  • Drives customer retention through excellent customer service and in person visits
  • Effectively communicates with management to provide accurate revenue forecasts and market intelligence that may impact revenue (+/-)
  • Maintains the highest levels of personal and professional behavior in the workplace and in the market
    Ensures that the team consistently meets and/or exceeds revenue goals. Always aware of performance to goal; measures sales executive performance by revenue to goal, quarterly and annually. Ensures that high levels of performance are always top of mind
  • Holds staff accountable to revenue goals, objectives, KPIs and other metrics. Creates effective formal activity metrics for staff
  • Spends significant time with MMSEs visiting customers in the field with the purpose of deepening account relationships; uses these opportunities to coach staff
  • Manages staff to consistently maintain a forward, robust pipeline. Stays current on potential wins
  • Understands methodology for goal setting and applies that methodology accordingly. Has an in-depth knowledge of MMSE accounts, prospects and each prospect’s potential. Establishes aggressive but realistic goals for staff; incorporates staff’s input in the goal setting process
  • Develops a strong sales plan with team and holds staff accountable for achieving their plans
  • Provides appropriate mix of direction and strategy. Collaborates with the staff on strategy, innovation, etc., to ensure that new ideas are developed and presented to clients
  • Drives consultative, customer-centric selling behaviors. Ensures that each MMSE consistently presentproducts/services appropriate to client needs and constantly monitor the “health” of the relationship between the client and MMSE
  • Reviews and critiques all presentations and campaign proposals and coaches MMSE on improving this process
  • Meets 1:1 with each MMSE every week to review performance to goal, new business opportunities and challenges
