Regional publisher

Experienced Regional Publisher needed. The group is comprised of 8 daily newspapers, 13 paid weekly newspapers and 8 Shoppers in Southern Illinois. Reporting to Western Region Vice-President. This position also carriers the Publisher responsibility for a daily and automotive shopper in the primary regional office. The successful candidate will be dedicated to achieving our print, online and niche product revenue goals. This is a hands on job. The successful candidate will be hands-on, visible leaders that can grow print advertising and digital revenue while managing other functional areas of the business.

Responsibilities include:

• Strategic planning and execution for print and digital revenue development
• A digital leader, who is knowledgeable about digital technologies and has a proven track-record of driving digital sales performance.
• New business development and innovation to generate profitable revenue growth.
• Develop new circulation and audience acquisition strategies in digital, mobile and social media.
• Leading everyday training and coaching efforts to maximize sales performance.
• Ability to analyze market conditions and competitive business situations, identify new business opportunities and to implement creative sales strategies
• Collaborative, working with other department heads and the publisher to develop and execute short- and long-term strategies that bring revenue opportunities and innovative approaches to our market.
• P & L management, expense control
• Employee relations and development.
• Engagement with the community.

GateHouse is committed to introducing a wide variety of print and digital products to serve new audiences and to tap into additional sources of advertising, subscription, direct marketing, merchandising or other revenues.

Exceptional communication, time management and planning skills are required. Solid leadership track record with 3-5 years of sales management experience preferably in the media business (magazine, internet, broadcast, newspaper etc…) is required.
