Digital Media Director

GateHouse Media Community East Group seeks a Digital Media Director. This position develops and implements effective digital advertising strategies to drive consumers to newspaper and advertiser’s websites, also with the goal of developing an ongoing training program to empower our sales force to lead the industry in digital sales. The Digital Media Director utilizes knowledge of the latest industry trends including search engine listings and unique display placements, social media strategies employing the following optimization techniques.

  • Keyword analysis and selection
  • Competitive site analysis
  • Campaign optimization
  • Ad copy optimization
  • Geography and behavioral targeting optimization
  • Custom ad copy updates
  • Experience selling video and mobile ads
  • Familiarity with ad exchanges and networks
  • Understanding of audience-based selling strategies


The Digital Media Director collaborates with advertisers and internal customers to achieve their strategic digital marketing goals. The Digital Media Director should have the ability to articulate this knowledge in a clear, professional manner via verbal and written communications to the customer and GateHouse internal teams.  Digital Media Director will work at site level and up through corporate projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Become an advisor to the Community VP, GateHouse managers and multimedia account executives to drive regular and positive contact with clients to review marketing program strategy and performance. Monitor and analyze online campaigns and make changes to improve performance metrics. Create a system to document all customer communication and optimization activity. Effectively work with other team members including technical support specialists to guarantee campaign and promotions fulfillment. Interact professionally and confidently with all GateHouse employees and advertisers to provide them the best customer service possible. Prepare monthly performance reports for corporate and division leaders. Prepare internal performance reports as specified by management. Analyze site analytics and customer performance metrics and identify areas requiring optimization. Participate in process improvement activities and initiatives

Qualifications Required:

  • Minimum 4 years experience in client relationship management is required
  • Minimum 5 years experience in digital advertising, especially with Google and Bing is preferred
  • Minimum 2 years experience in consumer Internet marketing is required
  • Experience with Windows, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Word required
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university is preferred
