Executive News Editor

The State Journal-Register currently has an opening for an Executive News Editor. This is the top news/editorial leadership position overseeing the daily news and newsroom operations. Responsibilities: organization, selection, and presentation of news, including online and digital; sets annual goals for newsroom operations and directing of staff.  The person in this role will implement and assist in visually enhance the newspaper’s print editions, sj-r.com and a variety of niche publications and websites.  This position reports directly to the publisher and is a partner /member of the operating committee for the newspaper.

The ideal applicant should have prior media/newspaper experience, a four-year degree in journalism or a related discipline and at least five years’ experience at a daily newspaper. We’re looking for someone who has multimedia skills and an ability to prioritize and work on deadline is important.   Leadership skills and ability is a must.
