Sarasota Herald-Tribune wins top honors at 2016 APME Innovation in Journalism Awards

Congratulations to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, which recently received a number of awards at the 2016 Associated Press Media Editors Innovation in Journalism Awards for its investigative piece “Insane. Invisible. In danger.

The investigation into the poor conditions of mental health facilities in Florida, written in partnership with the Tampa Bay Times, won the Public Service Award, the APME Foundation Sweepstakes Award as the best overall public service work and the Al Neuharth Award for Innovation in Investigative Reporting.

The Herald-Tribune also won the Community Engagement Award, the International Perspective Award and was named as one of three finalists for the Innovator of the Year award, the winner of which will be named in September.
