GateHouse Media recently named Tom Clifford as vice president of its Center for News & Design in Austin, Texas.
Clifford, who most recently served as the executive editor of the Montgomery Advertiser, will lead the center’s general operations.
“Through a several-month search process, Tom emerged as the clear leader because of his strong journalistic credentials, newsroom management style and exposure to design centers,” said David Arkin, GateHouse Media’s senior vice president of content and product development. “He will be an enormous asset, driving the Center’s goals of creating best-in-class news products and operational efficiencies.”
As the executive editor of Montgomery Advertiser, Clifford’s work resulted in winning Best in State news operation and Most Improved News Operation two years running, and being recognized by Gannett for in-depth public service reporting, video/multimedia work and innovative use of digital platforms.
